Men’s Golf Set To Compete At Cardinal Intercollegiate
September 21, 2012 | Men's Golf
The men's golf team, of first year head coach Kevin Farrell, will head to Simpsonville, Ky. for the Cardinal Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday (September 24-25).
The Cardinal Intercollegiate will be the third tournament that the Falcons have competed in this season. After a 14th place finish to begin the season at the Marshall Invitational, the Falcons rebounded nicely, finishing fifth as the host at the John Piper Intercollegiate.
The Falcons will send five individuals to compete including last week's MAC Player of the Week in senior Wes Gates. Gates has averaged just a 68.8 this season. Last week, he won the John Piper Intercollegiate, carding a 10-under 206. The week before, Gates tied for 3rd with a 207. Senior Charlie Olson, junior Chris Melvin, and freshmen Zac Brammer and Holden Pahr will join Gates in the Falcon lineup this week.
The Falcons will be one of 15 teams competing at the Cardinal Club Golf Course. Joining the Falcons will be host Louisville, along with Arkansas Little Rock, Austin Peay, Cincinnati, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Francis Marion, Furman, Gerogetown, Marshall, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, and Western Kentucky.
The tournament is set to tee off on Monday morning, with a total of 36 holes scheduled for play that day. The 15 teams will return to the course on Tuesday to play the remaining 18 holes of the 54 hole tournament.
