Quick Facts                       Notes
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Coming off their best finish at the MAC Championships (5th) since the 1994-95 season, the Bowling Green State University men's golf team will carry that momentum and look ahead to the 2013-14 campaign.
Led under second year head coach Kevin Farrell, the Falcons will look to make the most of six returning players, as experience could play a key factor in the team's success.Â
The Orange and Brown's success at the MAC Championships wasn't the only highlight from last year. BGSU placed in the top five in over half of their events, including their best finish of the entire year at the MAC Match-Play event (Feb. 11-12). The Falcons placed first at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Florida, coming into the tournament seeded sixth.
Farrell also saw first year success at the Cardinal Intercollegiate (Sept. 24-25), placing second with a team score of 867, which were nine shots behind the host Louisville Cardinals (858).
The Orange and Brown also finished second at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational. BGSU entered the final round six shots behind eventual champion Binghamton, firing a 299 to finish three shots shy. It was Farrell's return to Mount St. Mary's where he coached the Mountaineers' for three years.
Farrell also saw success from his players individually on and off the golf course. Four Falcons averaged in the 70's per round while Joe Cooper and Chris Melvin both received Academic All-MAC Honorable Mention.
BGSU will open its 2013 season with a trip to Huntington, West Virginia, to compete in the 44th Annual Marshall Invitational on Sept. 9-10. It will mark the second consecutive year the Orange and
Brown will open their year at the event. The 54-hole event will be held at the Guyan Golf and Country Club.
Farrell will feature two seniors (Joshua Bialecki and Melvin), three juniors (Cooper, Devin O'Grady, and Ryan Triller), one sophomore (Holden Pahr), and three freshman (Jose Narro, Brett Rinker, and Eli Stacy).

Triller, who averaged a team best 74.74 strokes through 19 rounds last year, placed an impressive 2-0-1 record in the MAC Match-Play Event.

Bowling Green will also be looking to get contributions from their freshman, highlighted by Brett Rinker, who recently placed second at the IZOD AJGA Championship this past summer.

Live scoring will be available closer to the start of the tournament.
Guyan Golf & Country Club
Guyan Golf Course was built in 1922 in the east section of Huntington. The course has been the site of numerous tournaments including U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open Qualifiers and the Marshall University Invitational. The par 71 Guyan has also hosted several West Virginia Opens. The first, in 1936, was won by Sam Snead. Snead also qualified for his first U.S. Open at the course.
Â
Guyan measures 6,523 yards from the championship tees and features medium sized greens with just enough woods to make it interesting. This traditional-style course has tree-lined fairways built on rolling terrain, and water comes into play on one hole. The most difficult hole is #2, a 444-yard, par 4, requiring a long and accurate tee shot up a narrow, tree-lined fairway.
