Flynn and Sullivan, both of whom hail from Naperville, Ill., have been key contributors to BGSU's offense this season, having combined for 17 of the Falcons' 28 goals this fall.
Flynn, an accounting major, has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.812. Sullivan, a business administration major, has a 3.892 cumulative GPA at BGSU.
Flynn leads the MAC and ranks among the national leaders in no fewer than five statistical categories. His goal in the second overtime of Wednesday's (Oct. 29) 1-0 win at Detroit increased his totals to 13 goals and 29 points this season. No BGSU player has scored more goals or points since 1996, and Flynn's total of six GWG is the highest by a Falcon since '97. Flynn ranks second in the nation in goals, points and GWG, and he is fourth in the country in goals per game (0.81) and fifth in points per game (1.81).
Sullivan is second on the Falcons in goals, assists and points this fall, with 13 total points. Sullivan's four goals include a pair of game winners, and two of his five assists have come on the match-winning goal as well. Sullivan is fourth in the MAC in assists, fifth in GWG, sixth in points and seventh in assists per game.
The Capital One Academic All-District District 5 Team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. To be nominated, a student-athlete must hold at least sophomore status, be a starter or key reserve, and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of CoSIDA members within the district.
As mentioned, Flynn and Sullivan's names now will be placed on the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in November.
The Falcons of head coach Eric Nichols, 10-5-1 on the year, are home for the next two games, beginning with Saturday's (Nov. 1) Mid-American Conference match vs. league-leading Western Michigan University. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., with 'Senior Day' ceremonies taking place prior to the match.
