Four Falcons Named Honorable Mention Academic All-MAC

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference Office released the 2013-14 Academic All-MAC team for men's golf on Tuesday afternoon. Four Falcons—Joshua Bialecki, Chris Melvin, Holden Pahr, and Ryan Triller—earned Honorable Mention. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes most hold at least a 3.2 grade point average while excelling on the course.
Joshua Bialecki | Senior | Waterville, Ohio (Anthony Wayne) | Adolescence to Young Adult Education (3.3 GPA)
2013-14: Posted a stroke average of 77.13 over 15 rounds of play on the year … Played in six events … Carded a low round 72 in the first round of the John Piper Intercollegiate … Went 2-0-1 at the 2014 Mid-American Match Play event … Placed in a tie for 24th overall with a score of 226 (72-78-76) at the John Piper Intercollegiate … Finished in a tie for 30th-place overall at the Cabo del Sol Intercollegiate with his score of 228 (77-78-73) … Turned in a score of 232 (79-76-77) at the inaugural Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational … Also turned in rounds of 75, 76 and 77 at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational … Teed-off for the Falcons at the 2014 Samford Intercollegiate … Finished his two-year career at BGSU with a 77.17 stroke average over 23 rounds of play … Played for the Falcons in nine tournaments overall.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
