The Woodlands, Texas – Bowling Green State University rising sophomore Jose Narro finished in a tie for first-place overall at the U.S. Amateur Championship Qualifying Event held July 14-15th at the Palmer Golf Course at The Woodlands Country Club in the Woodlands, Texas.
"I'm so excited for Jose because he's always been such a great ball striker, but now his short game and putting are coming into form and he's learning to score," commented BGSU head men's golf coach Kevin Farrell. "Both he and Brett (Rinker) push each other so much and it's fun watching their competitiveness as a coach. I'm ready for our tough schedule this fall!"
Narro carded a first round 70, -2 under par, on Monday, July 14th, as he had four birdies and 12 pars over the opening 18 holes of play. The Mexico native carded a 33, -3 under par, on the front nine en route to his opening day 70, -2 under par.
The rising sophomore then followed up with a second round 67, -5 under par, on Tuesday, July 15th, carding seven birdies for the 18 holes of play. He posted a 34 on the front nine and a 33 on the second nine, registering only two bogeys on the day.
