Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green University men's golf team is looking to turn things around on Sept. 28-30 at the Badger Men's Golf Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin at the par 72, 7,259-yards University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisconsin.
Coming off an 11th-place finish last week at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate, head coach Kevin Farrell and his team are looking to turn things around this week over the three-day, 54-hole event.
Playing in threesomes, the 14 team field will play 18 holes each day with the low four individual scores each day counting to determine the combined team scores for each round. Sunday, Sept. 28, and Monday, Sept. 29, will have a 9 a.m. tee time off of holes 1 and 10, while Tuesday, Sept. 30, will consist of a shotgun start set for 9:30 a.m.
The participating teams in the field are Bowling Green, Bradley, Charleston Southern, Drake, Illinois State, Iowa State, Kansas, Maryland, Marquette, Rutgers, Sam Houston State, Toledo, USC Upstate and Wisconsin.
The BGSU lineup will be comprised up of Jose Narro, Brett Rinker and Ryan Triller, while fellow Falcons Holden Pahr and Eli Stacy will be making their season debuts at the tournament.
Narro, who has carded low rounds of 66, 69, 71 and 72 so far this season, has been the top-Falcon golfer in both tournaments thus far this fall for BGSU. He finished in first-place at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational in early September and then posted a 23rd-place showing last week at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate. On the season, Narro has recorded a team-low stroke average of 72.33 over his six rounds of play.
Like Narro, Rinker will be teeing-off for the Falcons in the third straight event having also played at both the Marshall Invitational and the Rees Jones Intercollegiate. The sophomore, who has posted a stroke average of 75.00 thus far this fall, is coming off a round of 72, even par, at the final round of play at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate.
After missing the last event, Triller returns to the lineup for the Falcons this week. In the season opening event, the senior carded rounds of 79, 74 and 73 to finish in 69th-place overall.
Both Pahr and Stacy will be making their season debuts this week. Pahr played in six events last season, including the Mid-American Match Play event, and posted a stroke average of 76.73 on the year. Stacy, who is in his second year at BGSU, carded rounds of 75, 74 and 77 to finish in a tie for 24th-place last year at the John Piper Intercollegiate, his lone event of the season.
