Official Mid-American Conference MAC Men's Golfer of the Week Release
Cleveland, Ohio – BGSU freshman golfer Pablo Heredia Iglesias was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Men's Golfer of the Week on Thursday afternoon for the week of Oct. 22-28.
Iglesias registered his second top-five finish of the fall season, as he placed fourth overall with a 54-hole score of 210, -3 under par, to lead the Falcons to a second-place team finish. The freshman carded rounds of 66, 72 and 72 to post his BGSU career-best 54-hole score of 210, -3 under par.
Carding an eagle on the second round of play, he was second on the team with 11 birdies and led the Falcons with a par-3 scoring average of 2.93, -1 under par, over his three rounds of play. The Spaniard also finished in a tie for third over the entire tournament field with a par-4 scoring average of 3.96, -1 under par. His first round 66, -5 under par, was a career-low 18-hole score for the first-year Falcon.
BGSU's runner-up score of 854, +2, is tied for the fifth-lowest 54-hole tournament score by a Falcon team in the program's history.
This is the first conference weekly award for the first-year Falcon.
This marks the second straight week in which a Falcon golfer has received the league weekly honor, as Brett Rinker was tabbed the MAC Men's Golfer of the Week last week on Oct. 20.
BGSU will wrap up its 2015 fall slate next week at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic hosted by the University of Hawai'i at the Ka'anapali Golf Resort in Lahaina, Maui, Hawai'i on Nov. 6-8.
