Rinker Paces Falcons Again on Day Two of Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic

Lahaina, Maui, Hawai'i – For the second straight day, junior golfer Brent Rinker paced the Bowling Green State University men's golf team with a Falcon low 18-hole low round, as BGSU carded a second round team score of 300, +16, on Saturday at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic in Lahaina, Maui, Hawai'i.
With BGSU's first two round team scores of 292 and 300 over the last two days of play, the Falcons are in 15th-place overall out of the 19-team field with a 36-hole team score of 592, +24.
"We didn't play the way we wanted to play today," stated head coach Kevin Farrell. "We didn't finish out holes and we didn't hit enough greens. We will look to close out our fall season tomorrow on a high note with a solid final round of play."
Rinker led BGSU with a low round 73, +2, on Saturday, and when combined with his first round 70, -1 under par, from Friday, the junior is in a tie for 17th-place overall with a 36-hole combined score of 143, +1. Rinker has posted four total birdies, two over each round of play, and has totaled 27 pars over his first two rounds of play in Hawai'i.
Fellow junior Jose Narro moved up seven spots on the leaderboard to 36th-place overall with a second round 74, +3. Narro has posted rounds of 73 and 74 over his first two days of play to post a 36-hole score of 147, +5. Like Rinker, Narro has tallied four birdies overall and has also carded 26 pars thus far in the three-day event.
BGSU sophomore Cameron Michalak followed up his first round 73, +2, on Friday with a second round 76, +5, on Saturday to give him a 36-hole score of 149, +7, and place him in a tie for 48th-place overall. Michalak has turned in four birdies and 22 pars overall.
Pablo Heredia Iglesias finished day two with a second round 77, +6, while Mitchell Kontak turned in a round of 80, +9, over his second 18-holes of play. Iglesias sits in a tie for 78th-place overall with his 36-hole score of 153, +11. Kontak's 36-hole score of 159, +17, has him in a tie for 96th overall after two rounds of play.
No. 13 Oklahoma remains atop of the team leaderboard with a second round 281, -3 under par, to sit in first-place with a 36-hole team score of 557, -11 under par. No. 12 Georgia (563) jumped three spots to second-place with a team-low second round score of 278, -6 under par, while No. 35 N.C. State (565) is in third-place overall heading into the final day of play on Sunday.
The final round of the three-day tournament is set for Sunday, Nov. 8, with an 8:30 a.m. HT shotgun start.
