Charleston, S.C. – Bowling Green State University sophomore Jose Narro posted a first round 68, -3 under par, on day one of the 67th Azalea Invitational held at the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. on Thursday, Mar. 26.
The BGSU golfer carded six birdies and 10 pars on the opening 18 holes of play to end day one in a seven-way tie for eighth-place overall with a round of 68, -3 under par.
"I played pretty good today. I missed some good chances and was -1 under through number 10 and then I doubled my 11th hole," commented Narro. "That was like a turning point for me and I kept it together to birdie four out of my last seven holes. I feel good about tomorrow with that good finish and I will keep it going."
Narro is just three strokes off the lead, which is held by Todd White of Spartanburg, S.C. with a first round score of 65, -6 under par.
The second day of play will begin for Narro with a 12:20 p.m. ET tee-off time. He will be playing with Kyle Nathan, a graduate of the University of Maryland, and Mike Smith, a local club member.
