Charleston, S.C. – Bowling Green State University's Jose Narro turned in a round of 74, +3, on day three of the 2015 Azalea Invitational and made the cut which was trimmed down to just 63 participants heading into the final round of play tomorrow at the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.
After back-to-back rounds of 68, -3 under par, over the first two rounds of play on Thursday and Friday, Narro had three birdies and 10 pars over the third round of play on Saturday en route to his 18-hole score of 74, +3. The sophomore struggled on the front nine, shooting a 40, +4, but bounced back to record three birdies and a score of 34, -1 under par, on the back nine on what was a windy day throughout the round of play.
"I played decent today, but it was really windy and I got off to a bad start. I was four over (+4) through the first eight holes, then I got all the way back to just two over (+2) before I bogeyed my last hole on a bad break in which I hit the flag stick from 192 yards out and it knocked it off the green," commented Narro. "Tomorrow I will work harder on concentrating and get that top-10 finish."
The Falcon golfer will enter the final round of play on Sunday, March 29, in a five-way tie for 15th-place overall. With his 54-hole combined score of 210, -3 under par, Narro is just nine strokes off the lead held by Todd White of Spartanburg, S.C. and Andre Tourinho of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at 201, -12 under par.
