May 13, 2015 | Men's Golf
Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team has picked up a transfer from the University of South Alabama in Max Rispler (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central H.S.), announced head coach Kevin Farrell.
Rispler, who redshirted his one season at South Alabama in 2014-15, will have four years of eligibility remaining for the Falcons beginning in the fall of 2015.
"Max is a really proven junior player," commented Coach Farrell. "He will be a great addition to our team. We are excited to have Max join our program and we think that he can make an immediate impact."
The top-ranked player in the Class of 2014 in the state of Michigan, Rispler attended Forest Hills Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he was a two-time all-conference and an all-state golfer. In his senior season, Rispler was an individual qualifier for the Michigan High School Athletic Association Lower Peninsula Division I State Championship after tying for fourth at the Regionals with a round of 72, after earning medalist and first-place honors with a round of 72 at the District Championships. He would go on to place ninth out of 120 golfers at the 2014 State Championship. As a freshman, he posted a fourth-place finish to help lead the Rangers to the Division I State Championship.
As a junior amateur, Rispler won four tournaments and placed in the top-10 in six other events over 16 junior events in 2013. He won the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) Orlando Junior Challenge in Jan. 2013 with a 36-hole score of 145 and took first-place at the HJGT Timacuan Junior Shootout just two months later with a two-round combined score of 145. Rispler also finished first at the Junior PGA Championship Section Qualifier in Michigan with a 36-hole score of 141 (73-68) in the summer of 2013. In 2014, the Michigan native placed second at the Citrus Junior Golf Tour Callaway World Qualifier in May, finished third at the Future Collegians World Tour at Harmony Golf Preserve and fourth at the FCWT's MetroWest event. He came in fifth-place at the FCWT event at the Red Tail Golf Course, and was sixth at both the USGA Junior Boys Qualifier in Michigan and the HJGT Major Championship at Bear Trace in 2014.
Rispler, who plans to major in business administration at BGSU, joins fellow 2015 signees Pablo Heredia (Sevilla, Spain) and local Bowling Green product Trey Walker (Bowling Green H.S) as the new additions to the Falcons' roster come fall 2015.
