May 03, 2015 | Men's Golf
Chardon, Ohio – On the heels of the 2015 Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Championships, which concluded on Sunday, May 3, Bowling Green State University sophomore Jose Narro was named to the 2015 All-MAC First Team the conference announced on Sunday night.
Narro becomes the first All-MAC First Team selection for the Falcons since Matt Schneider was named to the first team in 2009. Overall, Narro becomes the 32nd Falcon to receive All-MAC First Team honors.
The sophomore finished with rounds of 74, 73, 69 and 75 to place in a tie for 10th-place overall with a 72-hole score of 291, +3 at the 2015 MAC Championships this weekend. Narro posted 12 birdies and a team-best 47 pars over the four rounds of play.
"Jose is well deserving of this all-conference honor, as he had an awesome year," commented head coach Kevin Farrell. "He is a great kid that works tirelessly at all the areas of his game. I'm excited for him and I can't wait for the next two years to see how much he continues to grow both as a person and as a golfer."
On the season, Narro led the Falcons with a stroke average of 73.22 over 36 rounds of play which ranks as the second lowest single season stroke average in BGSU men's golf history since 1972-73. He took first-place honors at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational with a 54-hole score of 206, -7 under par and totaled six top-25 finishes in a very challenging schedule.
Named the MAC Men's Golfer of the Week on Sept. 10, Narro carded eight sub-par rounds on the year, including a career-low 66 twice. He also turned in a round of 69 five times this year and recorded a 77 or lower in 33 of his 36 rounds of play this year.
Narro finished as the top-Falcon golfer in seven of BGSU's 12 events this season and was either the top one or two finisher for the Falcons in all 12 tournaments on the year.
This marks the third straight year in which the Falcons have had a golfer receive MAC All-Conference Team honors – 2013 Wes Gates (Second Team), 2014 Brett Rinker (Second Team) and 2015 Narro (First Team).
