November 21, 2016 | Football
Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference has named Bowling Green junior center Tim McAuliffe as the MAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week. A leader on the offensive line, McAuliffe and the unit paved the way for one of the most potent rushing games in BGSU history in a 42-7 win over Kent State.
Bowling Green rushed for 420 yards and saw three running backs top 100 yards on the ground. Bowling Green had not topped 400 yards rushing in a game since totaling 424 against Kent State on Oct. 24, 1998. It was the first time the Falcons had three running backs with 100+ yards since 1978.
The offensive line also did not allow a quarterback sack in the contest. Donovan Wilson carried 30 times for 146 yards and two scores, while Josh Cleveland had eight rushes for 131 yards, including an 85-yard touchdown jaunt. Fred Coppet added 19 rushes for 105 yards and a touchdown as well. In total, Bowling Green rushed the ball 66 times.
BGSU has won two straight games heading into the final weekend of the regular season. The Falcons will host Buffalo Friday at 2:30 pm to conclude the 2016 season.
