McLain, Garda Named Vito's Players Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Mitch McLain and volleyball player Madeline Garda.
Male Athlete of the Week
Mitch McLain, a junior from Baxter, Minn., scored the first hat trick for a BGSU player since November of 2013, helping the team to an 8-3 win at Alabama Huntsville for a weekend sweep of the Chargers. McLain was +3 with four shots on goal and a blocked shot in the Saturday victory. The previous night, McLain was a +2 as the Falcons won 4-1. Â
Female Athlete of the Week
Madeline Garda, a senior from West Chester, Ohio, had 64 digs in her final two matches as a Falcon. In a win over Western Michigan in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals, she posted 28 digs. In the final match of her career, she came up five digs shy of breaking her own school record, earning 36 in a four-set loss to top-seed Miami.
