Narro Heads in to Championship Sunday in Second-Place at the Mexican Amateur Championship

Campeche, Mexico – Bowling Green State University men's golfer Jose Narro will head into the final round of the Mexican Amateur Championship (Campeonato Nacional de Aficionados – Campeonato) on Sunday in second-place and just two shots off the lead after firing a third round score of 75, +3, on Saturday at the Campeche Country Club "El Defin".

Narro, who led after the first two rounds of play with rounds of 68 and 73 for a combined 36-hole score of 141, -3 under par, carded a round of 75, +3, on Saturday to give him a 54-hole score of 216, even par.

He is two strokes behind the leader in Aaron Terrazas and his 54-hole score of 214, -2 under par.

"I played great again today, but just had a bad finish," commented Narro. "Tomorrow I will focus a lot and take it shot by shot."

Over his round of play on Saturday, Narro tallied three birdies and 10 pars, but was hampered by four bogeys and one double bogey. He was even par on both the par 3 and par 5 holes, but finished the day at +3 on the par 4 holes.

After opening up the day with a bogey on hole No. 1, Narro went par, par, bogey, par and par to go to +2 on the day after six holes of play. The Falcon golfer then bounced back with a birdie, par and birdie to close out the front nine at an even par 37.

On the back nine, the Tampico, Mexico native went par, par, bogey, par and par to go back to +1 thru the 14 holes. Following a birdie on the par 3 hole No. 15 to get back to even, Narro turned in a bogey, par and a double bogey over his final three holes to finish with a 38, +3, on the back nine and a 18-hole score of 75, +3, on the day.

The final round of play will tee-off tomorrow, Sunday, June 12.
