Narro Shoots a First Round 68 at the Mexican Amateur Championship

Campeche, Mexico – Falcon golfer Jose Narro continued his strong summer of play on the links on Thursday, as he posted a first round score of 68, -4 under par, to lead the tournament field on day one of the Mexican Amateur Championship (Campeonato Nacional de Aficionados – Campeonato) at the Campeche Country Club "El Delfin" in Campeche, Mexico.

"I played great. I didn't make a lot of mistakes and I only made one bogey. I took advantage of the par 5's shooting 4 under on those and it was a stress free round," Narro commented. "Tomorrow I'm planning on doing the same thing and hopefully I will get the same results."

On the opening day, Narro totaled one eagle, three birdies, 13 pars and one bogey over his 18 holes of play to shoot the lowest round of the day and place atop of the 101 player leaderboard.

He began his first round with a birdie on the par-5 hole No. 1, before posting five straight pars to remain at -1 under par through the first six holes of play. Narro then eagled the par-5 hole No. 7 to go -3 under par and then went par, par to close out the front nine with a score of 34, -3 under.

Narro began the back nine at birdie, par and birdie to move to -5 under par with six holes left to play. The rising senior then carded four straight pars, a bogey on the hole No. 17, and closed the day out with another par to shoot a 34, - 1 under par on the back nine.

The Falcon golfer is one stroke ahead of three other golfers in Raul Peredia De la Huerta, Juan Carlos Pallach and Luis Ruiz who all sit in a tie for second-place overall with first round scores of 69, -3 under par.

The Mexican Amateur Championship is slated for three more rounds, June 10-12, at the Campeche Country Club "El Defin".
