PANAMA CITY, Panama – Bowling Green men's golf senior Jose Narro will be one of just 108 players to compete in the Latin America Amateur Championship this week. The three-day tournament is to be held from Jan. 12-15 at the par-70 Panama Golf Club.
It will be Narro's third consecutive appearance at the LAAC, an event in which he placed 36th overall in 2016, following a 27th place finish in 2015. In the event's inaugural tournament in 2015, Narro carded rounds of 69, 78, 75, 71 for a combined 72-hole score of 293, +5 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2016, the Tampico, Mexico native marked a 72-hole score of 301, +14 in Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic.
The Latin America Amateur Championship will be contested for the first time in Central America and third overall. Narro will prepare in two days of practice rounds on Jan. 10-11, followed by four rounds of stroke play on Jan. 12-15 at the 7,142 yard course.
The Latin America Amateur, which is conducted by the Masters Tournament, The R&A and the USGA, welcomes competitors from nearly 30 countries throughout South America, Central America and the Caribbean, with a wide range of players competing, a factor that influences course setup.
