Mwembia, Lemke Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week
October 02, 2017 | General, Men's Soccer, Women's Swimming & Diving
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's soccer player Anthony Mwembia and diver Talisa Lemke.
Male Athlete of the Week
Anthony Mwembia, a sophomore from Toulouse, France, recorded another shutout as the Falcons downed Duquesne, 1-0 in double overtime, in the team's lone match last week. Mwembia made five saves en route to his sixth clean sheet of the year. He now has a goals-against average of 0.69 and a saves percentage of 85.1% this fall. Mwembia has allowed seven goals in 10 matches this season, and two of those seven goals came via penalty kick.
Female Athlete of the Week
Talisa Lemke, a sophomore from Berlin, Germany, won both diving events Friday in BGSU's season opener against St. Francis. On the one-meter board, Lemke accumulated a score of 275.35 and won by 45.35 points. She captured the win on the three-meter board by posting a 305.00 for a 45.6-point margin. Both scores exceeded the qualifying standards (265, one-meter; 280, three-meter) for the NCAA Diving Zones, which means she will compete at that event in Columbus, Ohio from March 8-10, 2018.Â
