Schaub, Hubert Named Jet's Pizza Athletes Of The Week
October 30, 2017 | General, Men's Cross Country, Women's Soccer
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are cross country runner Noah Schaub and women's soccer player Erica Hubert.
Male Athlete of the Week
Noah Schaub, a junior from Uniontown, Ohio, competed at the MAC Championship meet where he finished third overall, leading his team to a third place finish. It was the team's highest finish since winning the championship in 1995. His third place finish was also the highest individual finish for BGSU's men's squad since Brad Schaser placed second in '95. Schaub ran a time of 24:35, the fastest ever finish for BGSU in the MAC Championships 8K race. The previous record was held by Chris Koehler who crossed the line with a time of 24:53 in 1982.
Female Athlete of the Week
Erica Hubert, a redshirt junior from Welland, Ontario, found a perfect time for her first multi-goal match of the 2017 season. She scored twice as BGSU defeated Buffalo 3-1 in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals Sunday. Her initial score was the equalizer, and she capped her day with a goal in the 80th minute. That gave BGSU much-needed breathing room with a two-goal lead. Hubert completed the weekend with six points, as she scored BGSU's goal in the Falcons' 2-1 loss at Toledo in the regular season finale Thursday.
