Harris Named MAC East Defensive Player Of The Week
October 09, 2017 | Football
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Brandon Harris, a junior linebacker on the BGSU football program, has been named the MAC East Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday (Oct. 9) afternoon. The award is the first for a BGSU defensive player since Trent Greene earned the honor in November of 2016.
Harris secured Bowling Green's first Mid-American Conference win of the season on Saturday (Oct. 7) afternoon at Miami with an explosive play. With 1:21 remaining in the game, Miami trailed by just one point and had a first-and-goal at the BGSU one. On the next snap, Harris scooped up a fumble and returned it 93 yards for a touchdown.
The score, which was Bowling Green's longest play of the season, prevented a go-ahead touchdown, and iced the game for the Falcons. Harris also added six tackles and a quarterback hurry in the win. The Falcons are set to battle Ohio at Doyt L. Perry Stadium on Homecoming Weekend at 3:30 p.m.
