Rispler Earns Second MAC Golfer of the Week Honor of the Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio – After a 136, -8 performance at this week's Border Olympics, redshirt sophomore Max Rispler was named Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week.
A native of Grand Rapids, Mich., Rispler finished on top of the Bowling Green lineup for the third time this season with his score, earned by rounds of 69 and 67. The mark placed Rispler in a tie for second overall in a field of 100 players, the highest individual finish of the year for the Falcons.
Rispler topped the tournament with a 3.75, -5 average on par 4 scoring, in addition to earning a tournament-leading 11 birdies over the course of the 36-holes of play. Saturday's round of 67 also tied the low round of the 2016-17 campaign for the Falcons and marked a new season-best for Rispler individually.
With a total team score of 571, -5, the Bowling Green men's golf team finished fourth overall in a 19-team field at the Border Olympics. The Falcons excelled by following up its first round score of 285 with a 286 in Saturday's second round, where the Falcons combined for a total of 30 birdies and 118 pars in the opener of the spring season for its highest finish of the 2016-17 campaign.
The Conference award is Rispler's second of the season after marking a score of 212, -1 at the Inverness Intercollegiate in September, 2016. With Ball State's Timothy Wiseman's 54-hole score of 217, +4 at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate and Kent State's Ian Holt's 136 at the shortened General Hackler Championship, Rispler shared MAC Tri-Golfer of the Week honors this week.
Up next, the Bowling Green men's golf program will be competing in San Antonio, Texas at the Lone Star Invitational from March 20-21.
