Robertson, Seimet Named Jet's Pizza Athletes Of The Week
September 11, 2017 | General, Men's Soccer, Volleyball
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's soccer player Tate Robertson and volleyball player Kallie Seimet.
Male Athlete of the Week
Tate Robertson, a junior from Sprinfield, Ohio, had a goal and an assist as the Falcons downed Western Illinois, 2-0, in the team's only game of the week. He recorded his first game-winning goal of the season and the second GWG of his career with a golazo in the 15th minute. Robertson volleyed a ball out of the air and into the net from 25 yards out to open the scoring. Then, late in the match, he played a nifty through-ball to Chris Brennan, who raced behind the WIU defense to score the clinching goal. The three-point contest was the second of Robertson's career.
Female Athlete of the Week
Kallie Seimet, a junior from Oregon, Ohio, set a new career-high when she tallied 36 digs in the 3-2 victory over host Northern Kentucky in the NKU Invitational. Her previous career-high of 34 was set on Oct. 30, 2015 against Kent State. While in the 2017 campaign, Seimet has now marked 186 digs and averages 5.81 digs per set. Earlier in the day on Saturday, Seimet also marked her fifth 20+ dig match of the season when she posted a team-high of 22 against Seattle U, and after eight matches played this season, Seimet has marked 20+ digs against six of her opponents. Additionally, Seimet tallied two aces and a total of 20 assists, including a season-high of seven on two occasions, making her a well-rounded presence on the court for the Falcons.
