Miller, Seimet Named Jet's Pizza Athletes Of The Week
September 25, 2017 | Football, General, Volleyball
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are football player Scott Miller and volleyball player Kallie Seimet.
Male Athlete of the Week
Scott Miller, a junior from Barrington, Ill., had a huge day as the Falcons concluded non-conference play at Middle Tennessee Saturday. Miller set season highs with eight catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. Miller had a dynamic 60-yard touchdown in the first quarter on a play where he caught a 10-yard pass, and made a number of defenders miss before out-running the defense to the end zone. The 2016 First Team All-MAC selection now has 12 touchdowns and 1,230 receiving yards for his career.
Female Athlete of the Week
Kallie Seimet, a junior from Oregon, Ohio, broke her own BGSU Volleyball program record when she tallied 45 digs against Miami in the MAC opener. It is the third time this season that Seimet has set a career-best number and has tallied 40+ digs in a match, to average a team-leading 6.63 digs per set this year. Seimet also earned her first error-free weekend of the season on her 39 receptions, in addition to posting a total of 89 digs across nine sets played (9.89 d/set). After putting up 45 digs against Miami, Seimet marked 44 in the 3-2 comeback victory over Northern Illinois for the Falcons to earn its first conference win of the season.
