Wiggins, McMillen Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week
November 19, 2018 | General, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's basketball player Demajeo Wiggins and women's basketball player Morgan McMillen.
Male Athlete of the Week
Demajeo Wiggins, a senior from Toledo, Ohio, led the Falcons to a 75-60 home win over N.C. Central. Wiggins posted 22 points and 13 rebounds, marking his fifth-career game with 20-plus points and second-straight games with 13 rebounds. The Toledo native went 10-for-11 from the floor, tying a career high with 10 made buckets. Wiggins, who is just 44 points shy of becoming the 45th player in school history to eclipse 1,000 career points, is currently the only player in the country with four double-doubles in four games played in 2018-19. Dating back to last season, the senior has posted a double-double in 11 of his last 12 games.
Female Athlete of the Week
Morgan McMillen, a freshman from Berlin, Ohio, averaged 22.5 points per game as the Falcons went 2-0 last week. McMillen shot 52.4 percent from three-point range, going 11-for-21 from the arc in the two wins. In just her second game as a Falcon, McMillen scored 32 points and tied the school single-game record by making eight three-point field goals as BG defeated Marshall, 99-76. The point total was just two shy of BG's freshman record. She was 11-of-14 from the floor, including 8-for-11 from the arc, in that win. Then, McMillen had 13 points and a game-high four steals in BG's 61-60 win over Robert Morris. She hit three more triples, and the last of her four steals came in the final second of play to seal the win.
