Scott Miller Named To Biletnikoff Watch List
July 19, 2018 | Football
Tallahassee, Fla. – Bowling Green State University senior wide receiver Scott Miller has been named to the Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List. He is one of seven pass-catchers from the Mid-American Conference to be recognized on the list. The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding FBS receiver in college football. Any player, regardless of position, who catches a pass is eligible for the award.
Miller has been named to the Biletnikoff Watch List for the third time. As a sophomore in 2016, he was added to the Watch List during the midst of a season in which he caught 74 passes for 968 yards and 10 touchdowns. A year ago, he was selected to the preseason Watch List and finished the season with 63 catches for 722 yards.
With a season yet to play, Miller already ranks 19th on BGSU's career receiving yards list with 1,719 and is tied for 10th all-time as a Falcon with six 100-yard receiving games.
The award recipient is selected by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers.
The 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on Dec. 6 on The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN. The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., will announce the ten semifinalists on Nov. 12, with three finalists declared on Nov. 20.
The name Biletnikoff is synonymous with the term receiver. Fred Biletnikoff, a member of the pro and college football Hall of Fames, was a consensus All-American receiver at Florida State and an All-Pro receiver for the Oakland Raiders. He was the MVP of Super Bowl XI and caught 589 passes for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns during his 14-year Raiders career from 1965-78.
Miller is the second Falcon announced to a preseason Watch List. Sophomore running back Andrew Clair was named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List Wednesday.
