Bowling Green Earns 2019 Institutional Sportsmanship Award
May 29, 2019 | General, Falcon Club, Student-Athlete Services
Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University was the recipient of the 2019 Institutional Sportsmanship Award presented on Wednesday, May 29 at the MAC Honors Dinner, as part of the conference's annual Spring Meetings at the Cleveland Renaissance Hotel.
This marks the first time for Bowling Green to receive this special honor as voted upon by MAC membership.
"BGSU is honored and humbled to receive the Institutional Sportsmanship Award, as chosen by our peer institutions," BGSU Director of Athletics Bob Moosbrugger said. "At BGSU, we talk about winning it right – on the field of competition, in the classroom and in the community. Our coaches, student-athletes and administrators represent themselves and our great university in a first class manner. You win with people and we have great people who value sportsmanship."
The Institutional Sportsmanship Award evolved from the Conference strategic plan as the value of sportsmanship was the center of the Conference mission statement and core values. In the voting process, every MAC institution received votes, which further supports that sportsmanship is emphasized and expected from our student-athletes, coaches and administrators across each and every MAC campus.
"The Institutional Sportsmanship Award is a positive reinforcement of one of the values that we as a Conference and each of our member institutions all possess as a core value of who we are and how we conduct ourselves in athletic competition," said MAC Commissioner, Dr. Jon A. Steinbrecher.
