First year head coach Scot Loeffler will lead the Falcons into the 2019 season, returning 12 starters and 36 letter winners from a year ago. So far, BGSU has had eight student-athletes named to a preseason All-MAC team from Athlon Sports, Lindy's Sports or Phil Steele's College Football Preview. One of the most successful programs in MAC history, Bowling Green has won 12 MAC Championships and made 13 Bowl Game appearances.
Clair, one of the MAC's most dynamic all-purpose backs, is projected as the No. 1 running back heading into the 2019 season and has rushed for 1,427 yards over his first two seasons, adding 231 receiving yards and 330 yards on kick returns. He already ranks No. 27 on BGSU's all-time rushing list, needing just 143 more yards to crack the top 20. He is a two-time third team All-MAC player and was named preseason All-MAC by both Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.
Konowalski missed the 2018 season due to injury but was granted a sixth-year of eligibility and will return to bolster the defensive line. The spiritual leader of the defense, Konowalski started all 24 games in 2016 and 2017. He has 112 career tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks. The model of the program's "relentless effort" mantra and a playmaker, Konowaski had three career forced fumbles, two career fumble recoveries and a blocked kick.
BGSU Football opens the season Aug. 29 by hosting Morgan State under the lights at Doyt L. Perry Stadium at 7:00 pm. Homecoming will take place Sept. 14 against Louisiana Tech at 5:00 pm and the University will celebrate 100 years of BGSU Football when the team hosts Toledo Oct. 12 for Family Weekend (kick time TBA).
