Men’s Golf Adds Three Newcomers To 2019-20 Roster

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team and head coach John Powers have announced the addition of three student-athletes to the 2019-20 roster. Tom North (Batley, West Yorkshire, England), Ian Mackenzie-Olson (Plymouth, Minn.) and Roni Shin (Rocky River, Ohio) are set to join to Falcons this season.
"It is a great feeling to announce our roster for 2019-20, adding three more players to replace a strong group of seniors from last season," said Coach Powers. "The qualities that each new player brings to the team is going to make everyone around them better teammates, competitors, and people. It is fun to watch this program grow."
Biographical information on the first-year Falcons can be found below. The 2019-20 men's golf program is set to open the upcoming season with the Raising Canes Invitational in Richmond, Kentucky over Sept. 14-15.

Previous School: Bemidji State University
Prior To BG: Carried a 74.3 average with a low round of 67 at Bemidji State, earning several awards along the way … Three-time NSIC Golfer of the Week … Two-time NSIC First Team All-Conference selection … NCAA Division II Super Regional Qualifier … Bemidji State Men's Athlete of the Year … Carded a scoring average of 71.3 during the summer, with a notable finishes coming at USGA Amateur Qualifying (70-70) and the Minnesota Amateur (75-73-72) after winning his qualifier with a 69 … Narrowly missed out on qualifying for the PGA Tour 3M Open after firing rounds of 68 in pre-qualifying and 66 in the Monday Qualifier.

Prior To BG: Led his school to five wins last season, winning once individually … Led the team with a 74.1 stroke average … Finished fourth place at the conference championship, team won the title … Placed 26th individually at the National Championship, team finished in ninth place … Qualified for match play at the English Men's Amateur with scores of 71-73 … Finished second place in the Faldo Series North at Moortown, shooting 66-71-72 … Fired rounds of 68-75-72-66 in the Berkshire Trophy to finish 11th … Won the Leeds Stroke Play Championship with a 70.

Prior To BG: Averaged a 74.35 as a freshman at Baldwin Wallace, earning All-OAC honors and a 12th place finish at the conference championship … His average ranked third all-time for the Yellow Jackets … Earned OAC Golfer of the Week in April after a medalist finish in the College of Wooster Nye Intercollegiate … Won the Mount Union Fall Invitational by four strokes with rounds of 71-70 … This summer, shot rounds of 73-70 in USGA Amateur Qualifying, 71 in the Tigertown Open and averaged 74.4 across his events.
