Five Falcons Honored by OCSA

Brennan, Mwembia, Robin, Sullivan & Wrobel each earn All-Ohio accolades
Five Bowling Green State University men's soccer standouts have been honored by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association. Senior Anthony Mwembia and junior Achille Robin have been named to the 2019 OCSA All-Ohio Team, while seniors Chris Brennan and Tom Wrobel and junior Chris Sullivan have been chosen to the OCSA Academic All-Ohio Team.
BGSUÂ tied for the second-highest number of honorees on each team.
Mwembia has been named to the All-Ohio Team for the third time in his four years with the Falcons, having been similarly honored in both 2016 and '17. Both Brennan and Wrobel earn OCSA Academic All-Ohio Team accolades for the second-straight season.
Brennan, who hails from Copley, Ohio, was named to the All-MAC Second Team in 2019, despite missing six matches due to injury. He played in BGSU's first 11 matches of the season, and was leading the team in scoring when he was injured in early October. Brennan still finished third on the club in points, with 12. He was also third on the team with four goals and he tied for second on the squad in assists, with four. Brennan, a team captain, scored at least one point in six-straight matches and in seven of the first nine contests of the season, and had a pair of GWG at Cochrane Stadium in September. Brennan finished with career totals of 41 points on 15 goals and 11 assists.
Mwembia, a native of Toulouse, France, started all 21 matches for the Falcons this season, and had 63 saves, 11 shutouts and a goals-against average of just 0.83. Mwembia's total of 11 clean sheets was one shy of the school record, and was the highest by a Falcon 'keeper since BGSU Hall-of-Famer Scott Vallow and the Falcons had 12 shutouts in 1998. Mwembia's final shutout came on the road against Akron in the MAC Tournament, helping the Falcons advance to the league tourney's championship match. He allowed only three goals over the last eight matches of the season. Mwembia, an All-MAC First-Team selection for the second time in his career, finished with career totals of 30 shutouts and 248 saves. He posted the second-highest career shutout total in school history, and wound up seventh on the saves list. Mwembia recently signed a professional contract with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.
Robin, a native of Les Sables d'Olonne, France, was a key contributor at both ends of the pitch in 2019. From his center-back position, he helped the Falcons keep those 11 clean sheets, and at the offensive end of the field, Robin, the lone Falcon to play every second of every match in 2019, ranked second on the team in both goals and points. Robin had five goals and 14 points on the year, and he tied for second on the Falcons with four assists. His last two goals, on back-to-back Tuesdays, were game-winning tallies, including a 'Golden Goal' vs. Northern Illinois in the MAC Tournament's quarterfinal round. when he converted a 95th-minute penalty kick. Robin was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week twice this year, and joined Mwembia on the All-MAC First Team.
Sullivan, from Naperville, Ill., led the team in goals, assists and points en route to All-MAC Second-Team honors. He had 23 points on seven goals and nine helpers this season. Sullivan, who more tripled his point total for all of last season, was directly involved in nine goals in a 12-goal BG span through the end of September and the entirety of October. Sullivan ended October with six points in a two-game stretch, including back-to-back two-assist games. His final goal of the season proved to be the winner as BGSU downed Akron in the league tournament's semifinal round. He was named to the CSN National Team of the Week for his play in the final week of October. Sullivan started all 21 matches this season and has made 47 starts in his career. He now has 35 career points on 11 goals and 13 assists.
Wrobel, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, played in 20 of the Falcons' 21 matches, starting them all. A defender, he had two points on the season, and helped the Orange and Brown record shutouts in 10 of his 20 starts. Wrobel, who was named to the Academic All-MAC Team for the third consecutive season, played every second of 17 of the Falcons' matches, and finished sixth on the team with a total of 1,791 minutes played. Wrobel played in 49 career matches, making 46 starts. After seeing limited action as a freshman, he made 43 starts over his final three seasons.
BGSU closed the 2019 season with an overall record of 13-7-1. The Falcons posted a double-digit win total for the first time since 2014 and just the second time since 1998. BGSU more than doubled the team's win total from a year ago. Head coach Eric Nichols and the Falcons had five seniors on the 26-man 2019 roster.
