Ford, Platts Named Medical Mutual Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Medical Mutual Athletes of the Week, as selected by the strategic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Connor Ford and swimmer Daisy Platts.

Male Athlete of the Week
Connor Ford, a senior from Pittsburgh, Pa., totaled four points for the Falcons over the weekend as Bowling Green swept No. 18 Michigan Tech. Ford had three points in the first game of the series on Friday (Jan. 29), consisting of two goals and one assist. His two goals served as the final two of the game, both coming in the third period. The first was on the power play while the second was an empty-netter. His assist also came on the power play. As for Saturday's contest (Jan. 30) Ford again was the one to score the final goal of the game, being an unassisted empty-net score with less than two minutes remaining in regulation.

Female Athlete of the Week

Daisy Platts, a junior from Leicester, UK, led the Falcons with four victories Friday as the Falcons hosted Eastern Michigan. Platts won the 100 and 200 backstroke, as well as the 200 individual medley. She was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay team. Platts' time of 53.28 seconds in the 100 backstroke is tops in the MAC this year, and her split time of 24.97 seconds is also first in the conference for the 50 backstroke. Her 200 backstroke time of 2:02.45 is fourth in the MAC thus far.
