Hofland, Karg Named Medical Mutual Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Medical Mutual Athletes of the Week, as selected by the strategic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's golfer Nick Hofland and tennis player Selina Karg.

Male Athlete of the Week
Nick Hofland, a senior from Ancaster, Ontario, capped off a strong senior season this weekend at the 2021 MAC Championships in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Hofland was the co-leader heading into the final round of play after firing a pair of 75's on Friday (April 30). The native of Ancaster, Ontario, Canada solidified his position as one of the MAC's top golfers this season by placing seventh at the conference championships.

Female Athlete of the Week

Selina Karg, a freshman from Augsburg, Germany, went 2-0 in singles play over the weekend as well as being 2-0 in doubles play with partner Hannah Neuman. In singles, Karg began the weekend on Friday (April 30) against Eastern Michigan by allowing her opponent just one game over the course of the day with 6-1 and 6-0 scores. As for Sunday (May 2), Karg came from behind to tally a point for the Falcons. After falling short in the first set, Karg won the second 7-5 before closing the door in the third with a score of 6-1. In doubles, Karg and Neuman tallied a 6-1 score against EMU before winning 7-5 against Miami.
