BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green wide receiver Odieu Hiliare and running back PaSean Wimberly earned Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week honors for games played through Sunday, Nov. 20. Hiliare was named the MAC East Offensive Player of the Week and Wimberly was named the MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week. It is the first career weekly accolade for both.
Hiliare (Sr., Belle Glade, Fla.) helped Bowling Green win its rivalry game at Toledo, 42-35. It was BGSU's first win at Toledo since 2008. Hiliare caught eight passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns in the win. The 246 receiving yards rank No. 3 all-time on BGSU's single-game ledger and No. 11 all-time on the MAC's single-game list. The 246 receiving yards are also tied for the second-most in the nation this season. Hiliare made three receptions of 50 or more yards (50, 54, 59) and five of his eight receptions went for 25 or more yards. His first touchdown was on a 25-yard pass to put BGSU up 7-0 in the first quarter. Hiliare scored his second touchdown on a 59-yard strike in the fourth quarter that put BGSU up 34-21 late.
Wimberly (Jr., Toledo, Ohio) blocked his third punt of the season in the second quarter, and it went into the end zone and was recovered by BGSU for a touchdown. It is the second time this season he blocked a punt that was recovered for a touchdown. The block against UT for a touchdown put BGSU up 21-0 and helped set the tone for BGSU. Wimberly is tied for No. 1 in the nation with three blocked punts.
The Falcons return to action tomorrow night against the Ohio Bobcats in Athens. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. and be broadcast live on ESPNU.
