Anders and Ferguson Named Preseason PFN All-Americans

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University inside linebacker Darren Anders and cornerback Davon Ferguson were named to the Pro Football Network's (PFN) preseason All-America team. Anders earned first-team accolades, while Ferguson was on the honorable mention list.
Anders and Ferguson are two of six MAC players on PFN's preseason All-America list. Anders is the only MAC player on the first team.
The PFN College Football All-Americans are presented with an inside look at who PFN's team of national analysts, college football local evaluators, and NFL Draft scouts all thinks are the top players at each position across the country. Differing from the national landscape, the PFN All-American lists consider not only what a player has accomplished to date but also look forward to what the PFN expects to see based on the growth of the athlete's career. Group of 5 and Power-5 schools were equally nominated and discussed by our team of analysts.
Anders, who has also been named to the Butkus Award, Bednarik Award and Nagurski Trophy watch lists, leads all Mid-American Conference players in total watch lists named to with four. He is the first Bowling Green player to be named to four different watch lists.
Anders (North Olmsted, Ohio) leads the Mid-American Conference by being mentioned on four preseason watch lists after being tabbed on the Bednarik Award, Butkus Award, Lombardi Award and Nagurski Trophy watch lists. He was a 2021 first-team All-MAC linebacker, finishing last season No. 1 in the MAC and No. 8 in the nation with 10.3 tackles per game. Anders was one of three players in all of FBS over the last two seasons to rank in the top-15 nationally in tackles and is the only one who returns to CFB in 2022. He was also one of three FBS players in 2021 with 120+ tackles, 3.0+ sacks, 1+ fumbles recovered and 1+ interceptions (one of two through the regular season) and the only one returning to CFB in 2022. Anders has been named a preseason first-team All-MAC honoree by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.
Ferguson (Baltimore, Md.) started seven of BGSU's first eight games in 2021 before missing the final 4.5 games with an injury. When he went down with injury, he was the only player in the nation with 60+ tackles (68), 2.0+ sacks (2) and 4+ passes defended (4). He was Ferguson was 1 in the MAC and No. 14 in the nation with 5.6 solo tackles per game. Athlon Sports has put Ferguson on its first-team All-MAC list, while Phil Steele has tabbed him a preseason MAC third-team pick.
Bowling Green, who returns 50 letterwinners and 18 starters, opens the 2022 season against UCLA on Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Rose Bowl. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. ET on the Pac-12 Network.
