Anaya, a native of Queretaro, Mexico (ITESM Leon), tied for the team lead in goals, assists and points in 2023, despite missing three matches due to injury. The midfielder's total of 14 points included four goals and six assists. A team captain, he scored 12 of his points in conference contests, with all four of his goals and four assists coming against MVC foes. Anaya scored a goal in four consecutive games, the longest streak by a Falcon since 2005. He saw action in seven MVC matches, and had at least one point in six of them. Anaya ends his junior season with career totals of 38 points on 12 goals and 14 assists in the Orange and Brown.
Terry, who hails from Bellbrook, Ohio (Bellbrook), started all 18 matches and tied for the team lead in goals, assists and points in his sophomore campaign. Like Anaya, Terry totaled 14 points on four goals and six assists. He exploded for nine of those points in back-to-back wins at Cochrane Stadium, with two goals against Bradley, followed by two more goals and an assist against Evansville. Terry led the Falcons on both total shot attempts (40) and shots on goal (18) in 2023. In MVC matches, he was second on the club with 11 points, including four goals to tie Anaya for the team lead in that category. Overall, Terry more than tripled his 2022 point total in '23.Â
Christensen, a native of Copenhagen, Denmark (Campus Vejle), was one of just four Falcons to start all 18 matches, and was third on the team in minutes played. A midfielder by trade, he was pressed into service on the back line when BGSU suffered multiple injuries to defenders early in the season, and played much of the year – including the entire conference schedule – at a center-back spot. He was BGSU's only field player to play all 720 minutes of the MVC schedule, and his lone assist of the season came on a game-winning goal, in BGSU's victory at Drake.
Painter, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio (Anderson), saw action in 13 of BGSU's 18 matches on the season, including in six of the Falcons' eight MVC contests. He tied for fourth on the team in scoring, with eight points on three goals and a pair of assists. Painter maximized his time on the pitch, leading the team in points per minute by a wide margin. His eight points all came against MVC foes – in fact, all eight points came in the last three matches in which he saw action. He entered the Drake match as a substitute at halftime, and scored a goal just 12 seconds into the period, before adding another goal in that win. He then had a goal and an assist vs. Missouri State, and another helper in BG's MVC Tournament match vs. Northern Illinois.
BGSU finished the season with an overall record of 7-8-3, and the Falcons went 4-4-0 in their inaugural season in the MVC, placing fourth in the nine-team league. Only three players on the 26-man roster have exhausted their collegiate eligibility.
