Bowling Green Launches New Mobile App and NextGen Website Redesign with SIDEARM Sports

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University athletic department along with partner SIDEARM, launched the BGSU Athletics App this week, the official mobile application for the Bowling Green State University Falcons. The new mobile app joins a redesign for the university's athletic website that took place June 2023. Both are powered by SIDEARM Sports.

"Our partnership with Learfield and SIDEARM Sports has brought us the future of digital fan engagement through our new mobile application and our NextGen version of BGSUFalcons.com," said Derek van der Merwe, BGSU Director of Athletics and Recreation. "We are proud to launch the very first Bowling Green athletics-only mobile app designed specifically to engage consumers as a central location to manage tickets, shop official BGSU merchandise and stay up to date on all breaking news and scores. With the changing landscape of the digital space, SIDEARM Sport's NextGen websites are designed to adapt. As a Learfield partner, BGSU had the privilege of being one of the first schools to embrace the new NextGen ecosystem, which will enhance the fan experience with faster page loads, improved stability, heightened security, and a unique digital design system."

Featuring real-time news alerts, schedules, exclusive multimedia content, gameday details and more, the new BGSU Athletics app is free and compatible with both iOS and Android devices.

Through the app, Falcon fans will enjoy a personalized mobile experience with the ability to manage tickets, shop for official BGSU merchandise and receive breaking news and score notifications for the teams they follow.

The app is designed with a user-friendly interface that integrates with BGSUFalcons.com to bring the latest BGSU digital content right to your fingertips. Additionally, it includes links to video and audio streams of live games, in-game stats, and team social media feeds.

The new-look website will tell the story of the Falcons, both on and off the playing surface, while adding features and functionality to serve the BGSU athletics community. The NextGen website is the latest version of SIDEARM's nationally recognized and industry-leading software. The new revolutionary technology will provide faster site loads, greater stability and enhanced security.

The new website will bring fans' focus to feature stories on student-athletes throughout the year by moving the In The Nest story series presented by Medical Mutual to the top of the homepage. These feature stories focus on student-athlete's stories on and off the playing surface, emphasizing BGSU's investment in both the student and the athlete. Additionally, fans will still be able to access all BGSU athletics news, schedules and results from the main page of the website.

Quick links to the Falcon Insider and tickets at the top of the website will provide ease of access to these key locations of information for fans. In addition to the news features, fans of the Falcons will still be able to locate all information regarding teams via the navigation bar, finding news, schedules, rosters and more under Sports.

Fans looking to purchase tickets, donate to BGSU athletics or shop for BGSU gear can now find those direct links on the right-hand side of the website in their own section, featured on a brown background.

The newly designed Fan Zone navigation tool will provide fans information to prepare for their next game day experience. In this section, information is available for fans regarding directions and parking, the Falcon Tailgate Park and more. Links to the Falcon Club and Future Falcon Kids Club can be located here as well. Fans looking to engage with the game day experience can submit birthdays and anniversaries in the Fan Zone too.

The Inside Athletics navigation will assist website visitors in learning more about the BGSU athletics operation. From the staff directory to specific department pages, the Inside Athletics tab provides an all-in-one stop for fans to discover the behind the scenes operations of BGSU athletics.
