Bowling Green Football Hosts Successful Career Fair for Its Student-Athletes
April 26, 2024 | Football, Falcon Club
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Early this month the Bowling Green football program hosted a career fair for its student-athletes. The networking event connected current football student-athletes with successful football alumni and friends. Over 30 employers participated in the event.
"We have the best former players in the country," said Bowling Green Head Football Coach Scot Loeffler. "We wanted to bring back our former players, one, and two our former players wanted to help our current players to be able to start marketing themselves, practicing interviewing for jobs getting the feel for handing out resumes and business cards. This is super important. Football is going to come and go, and we want to make sure we give our players the best opportunity to get jobs after they leave our program."
Prior to the career fair, JR Butler of The Shift Group, spoke to the football student-athletes about "Being Dialed In" and what it looks like to be successful for life after football.
The networking event provided educational career development workshops leading up to the career fair for all current football student-athletes. Another goal was to create lasting professional relationships and connections for future full and part-time jobs and internship opportunities.
"One day football will end," said BGSU senior outside linebacker Demetrius Hardamon. "Being able to practice the interview process, get connections, meet with alums, or people that are in and around the business world is something really nice for us. We get to learn about different industries and what may be good fits for us."
