BGSU rolls up a four-goal halftime lead in Rossford
ROSSFORD, Ohio –  The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team scored four times in a span of less than 20 minutes, rolling along to a 5-0 win over Eastern Illinois University on Tuesday night (Sept. 24). The non-conference game was held at the TOCA Soccer and Sports Center Toledo.
Junior Trace Terry had his second-straight two-goal game for the Falcons (7-1-1), who are receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches top-25 poll. Terry has scored five goals in the Falcons' last three games.
Kyle Cusimano, Josh Erlandson and Bennett Painter also scored goals for the Orange and Brown, while Alberto Anaya tied the school single-game record with four assists.
BGSU has tied the team's win total for all of last season.
The Falcons had an 18-1 advantage in shots in the first half alone, building a 4-0 lead over the Panthers (1-4-1) at the intermission. BGSU wound up with a 40-5 lead in total shot attempts along with a 13-4 lead in shots on goal and a 13-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The match, originally scheduled to be played at Cochrane Stadium in Bowling Green, was moved to the indoor venue due to storms and heavy rain in the area on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Brendan Graves made four saves en route to the shutout win. Kyce Toutanji and Lucas Ortiz combined for eight saves for the Panthers, with Ortiz stopping seven of eight BGSU second-half shots on goal.
NOTE OF THE NIGHT
• Senior Alberto Anaya, as mentioned, had four assists to tie the school record. He matched the mark set by Brian Ferguson in a 6-1 win over Eastern Michigan on Sept. 20, 1989.
BONUS NOTE OF THE NIGHT
• BGSU's total of 40 shot attempts is tied for eighth on the school single-game list. It is BG's highest total in 28 years, since another 40-shot match against Western Michigan in 1996.
UP NEXT
• The Falcons are 'home' again on Friday (Sept. 27) – presumably at Cochrane Stadium – to take on Belmont. First touch is set for 7:00 p.m., and admission is free.
• Then, the Orange and Brown will begin the October portion of the schedule with a trip to Chicago, facing UIC on Saturday, Oct. 5.
