Junior forward also earns honorable mention on TDS National Team of Week
Bowling Green State University men's soccer standout Trace Terry has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 24). Terry earns the honor for the first time in his career.
Earlier on Tuesday, Terry earned honorable mention on the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week, receiving that honor for the second time in his BGSU career.
Terry, a native of Bellbrook, Ohio (Bellbrook), scored all three of the Falcons' goals last week. The junior forward found the back of the net on a header midway through the first half last Tuesday (Sept. 17), as BGSU battled Northern Kentucky to a 1-1 draw.
On Saturday, Terry headed home both BGSU goals against Bradley. He gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead midway through the opening half for the second game in a row, scoring on a header from near the top of the 18-yard box after a nifty pass from Jake Bergin. Then, after the Braves equalized earl in the second half, Terry headed home the winner off of Andrew Shaffer's cross with just 3:37 to go.
On the season, Terry has totals of team-leading totals of six goals and 13 points.
Terry and the Falcons, currently receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll, have an overall record of 6-1-1 heading into Tuesday night's (Sept. 24) non-conference matchup with Eastern Illinois, and the Falcons are off to a 2-0-0 start in MVC play. First touch for Tuesday's match is set for 7:00 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium, and admission is free.
