Fannin Named Mackey Award Player of the Week
September 25, 2024 | Football
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green tight end Harold Fannin Jr. has earned John Mackey Award Player of the Week accolades for games played through Sept. 22. It is the first career Mackey weekly award for Fannin. He also was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. The John Mackey Award is a postseason award given to the nation's top tight end.
Fannin (Canton, Ohio) had an outstanding performance this weekend leading all MAC receivers with 145 yards. He recorded eight receptions, including a 65-yard touchdown reception on BGSU's first play from scrimmage in the second half. The TD was the longest offensive score allowed by Texas A&M's defense since October 2022. Notably, 97 of his 145 receiving yards came after the catch. This game marked his third career 100-yard receiving game (and second this season). Of the six instances in BGSU history where a tight end has surpassed 100 yards receiving in a game, he owns three, with two of his top performances this year coming against then-No. 8 Penn State and then-No. 25 Texas A&M. The 145 receiving yards against the Aggies are a career high and were the most by a tight end in the nation this past weekend.
BGSU is back in action on Saturday (Sept. 28) when the Falcons return home to conclude the non-conference schedule against the Old Dominion Monarchs. The Homecoming game kicks off at 5 p.m. at Doyt Perry Stadium.
