Cusimano Named to Top Drawer Soccer National Team of Week
September 03, 2024 | Men's Soccer
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Bowling Green State University men's soccer standout Kyle Cusimano has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week. The team was announced Tuesday morning (Sept. 3).
This marks the fourth time in his career that Cusimano has received weekly mention from Top Drawer Soccer.
Cusimano, a native of Bay Village, Ohio (Bay), led the Falcons with four points in a pair of road wins last week. The defender helped the Orange and Brown post a shutout win at Michigan State last Monday (Aug. 26), and had the primary assist on the lone goal, as his cross was headed home in the 70th minute for what would prove to be the winner.
Then, at IU Indy over the weekend, Cusimano had a goal and an assist in the Falcons' 4-1 victory. The lone goal BGSU allowed came on a penalty kick. With the Falcons leading, 2-1, on Friday night (Aug. 30), the match was delayed due to weather. Four seconds after it resumed the following morning, Cusimano had an assist as the Falcons took a two-goal lead, and he added a goal to remove any remaining doubt about that game's outcome.
Cusimano now has 31 career points on nine goals and 13 assists in his BG career.
He earned honorable mention to the TDS Team of the Week on Sept. 14, 2021, then was named to the team two weeks later (Sept. 28, 2021). The next year, he again earned honorable mention to the squad (Sept. 20, 2022).
The Falcons are 3-1-0 overall heading into a two-match homestand, BGSU will face Butler on Saturday (Sept. 7) at Cochrane Stadium. First touch is set for 7:00 p.m., and admission is free.
