John Pike enters his first season as a graduate assistant on Dino Babers’ coaching staff in 2015. Pike, who played at both San Diego Mesa College and North Dakota State University, graduated with his degree in health, nutrition, and exercise sciences.
Pike started his collegiate playing career at San Diego Mesa College, where he was named team Most Valuable Player after recording 10 interceptions (school record) in 2009. He also won the Golden Helmet award for the team’s highest GPA. Pike then transitioned to North Dakota State University, where he played his final two seasons for the Bison. During his senior season, he helped NDSU win their first National Championship in school history.
Following his collegiate playing career, Pike played for two seasons with the Stuttgart Scorpions of the German Football League. After his playing days were up, Pike coached for one season at the College of Idaho, where he helped the first-year NAIA program to four wins. At College of Idaho, Pike was responsible for cornerbacks while also serving as assistant strength coach.
Pike is the son of Pam and Mike, and has one sister – Branigan. He will assist with the coaching of the linebackers during the 2015 season with the Falcons.
