Story No. 7 From 2011-12: Men's Soccer Beats No. 9 Michigan In Front Of Record Crowd
June 26, 2012 | General, Men's Soccer
Throughout the summer, the Bowling Green Athletics Department will be counting down the top 10 stories of the 2011-12 school year, as voted on by members of the Athletics Department administration and the Athletics Communications Department. We will release the list one at a time throughout the summer, until the No. 1 moment of 2011-12 is revealed on Wednesday, Aug. 1 -- the day before BGSU football camp opens.
In front of a Cochrane Field record crowd of 2,133 fans, the Bowling Green men's soccer team scored a pair of second-half goals and defeated No. 9 Michigan 2-0 to open the regular season. Freshman Danny Baraldi scored midway through the second half to put the Falcons on top and sophomore Ryan Snashall clinched it with a goal with just 148 seconds remaining.
Although the Falcons were outshot 16-11, Michael Wiest earned the shutout with five saves as Bowling Green beat a ranked team for the first time since 2005. For the full release from the game, CLICK HERE.
