Falcons Down IUPUI, 2-0
BGSU-IUPUI Post-Match Notes
Landsberger, a redshirt sophomore, earns the league weekly honor for the first time in his BGSU career.
A native of Arlington Heights, Ill. (Buffalo Grove H.S.), Landsberger posted a shutout in his collegiate debut as the Falcons downed IUPUI, 2-0, in the season opener Friday night (Aug. 29) at Cochrane Field. Landsberger made five saves, including several acrobatic stops, en route to his first clean sheet at BGSU.
His first collegiate save came early in the match, as Landsberger made the stop on an IUPUI shot from point-blank range. And, he made back-to-back saves on a pair of IUPUI shot attempts midway through the second period, blocking the initial shot, then scrambling to his feet and making a headlong dive to save the follow-up try.
Landsberger and the Falcons will be at Cochrane Field again on Tuesday night (Sept. 2), hosting the University of Findlay in a 7:00 p.m. start. Admission is free, and the evening's festivities will include the Coaches vs. Kingston PK Challenge at halftime, as numerous BGSU head coaches each will look to convert a penalty kick against Director of Athletics Chris Kingston
