Sophomore earns first conference P-O-W honor after a seven-goal week

Flynn, a sophomore forward, earns the league weekly honor for the first time in his BGSU career.
BGSU has had the MAC's Player of the Week in each of the first two weeks of the 2014 season. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Nick Landsberger earned the honor last Monday (Sept. 1).
A native of Naperville, Ill. (Central H.S.), Flynn exploded for seven goals and 16 points in the Falcons' three matches last week. Flynn scored more goals and points last week than any BGSU player scored during all of the 2013 season.
Then, on Friday (Sept. 5), Flynn had two more goals and an assist in the Falcon's 4-0 win over Niagara at the Duquesne Invitational in Pittsburgh, Pa. He assisted on what proved to be the winning goal in that match, then scored the Falcons' second and fourth goals as BG improved to 3-0-0 for the first time since the 1999 season. Flynn was involved in the scoring of 10 of the Falcons' first 14 goals of the year.
For the first time as a Falcon, Flynn was held off the scoresheet in Sunday afternoon's (Sept. 7) 3-2, double-overtime loss to Duquesne. But, he nearly won the match for BGSU, drilling a shot off the crossbar in the first overtime.
On the season, Flynn has eight goals and 18 points. No BG player had more than six goals or 13 points during all of last year.
Flynn and the Falcons will play three of the next four matches at home, beginning with a Friday night (Sept. 12) contest vs. Northern Kentucky at Cochrane Field. First touch is set for 7:00 p.m., and admission is free.
