Brian MacLellan

At Bowling Green, MacLellan earned All-American honors playing defense under Coach Jerry York in 1981-82. Twice he was named to the All-CCHA team, once as a forward in 1978-79 and again as a senior defenseman in 1981-82. A team co-captain his last two seasons, MacLellan scored 143 points in his career, despite his move to defense late in his junior season. MacLellan used his size on defense to make big plays others.Â
MacLellan had stints in the NHL with Minnesota, New York Rangers, and the Los Angeles Kings. In 1989 he won the Stanley Cup with the Calgary Flames. Over his 10 year NHL playing career, he had 172 goals and 241 assists, in 606 games.Â
Currently MacLellan is the current president of hockey operations for the Washington Capital, where for the 2017-2018 season he helped assemble the Capitals team that captured the franchise's first Stanley Cup.Â
Brian MacLellan was elected to the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987.
