Graduate of Bowling Green High School in 1927 where he played football for 3 years....Was a member of the 1928-29-30 football teams.... Gained All-Ohio at guard ib 1928 teamm the first BG player to receive this honor...Repeated honor in 1930 as an end...Won All-Northwestern Ohio Conference honors at three positions-guard, tackle and end....Also participated in track and baseball....Won NWOC javelin throw with record throw in 1929....Taught and coached at Sylvania for two years...Played professional football in 1934....Served as assistant coach at Davidson College, 1935-42...Entered professional team in 1946....Was cheif of special services at Asheville, North Carolina Veterans hospital before returning to Navy during Korean conflict....Athletic Director, U.S. Naval Air Station, 1954-61....retired reserve Commander, U.S. Navy...Wife is Francis Jones of Abbevill, South Carolina....Has 3 Daughters.

In 1928, Chapman was named All-Ohio at guard, the first BG player to receive this honor. He would repeat the honor in 1930 as an end. He won All-Northwestern Ohio Conference honors at three positions (guard, tackle, and end).
Chapman also participated in track and baseball, winning the NWOC javelin throw in 1929. He played professional football in 1934.
Chester Chapman was inducted into the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1965.
