David Greer

David Greer came to Bowling Green from Canton, where he was a class AAA All-State selection as a senior at Canton McKinley High School. He was the first player in BGSU basketball history to shoot better than 50% from the field and 80% from the free-throw line in a career. Greer held many assist records upon the conclusion of his career, some of which he still holds today.
During his time at BG, Greer was a member of the team who won the MAC Championship in both the 1980-81 and 1982-83 seasons. Greer holds the individual record for most assists in a game, season, season APG, and career at BG. Most notably, he tallied 768 assists during his three years on the team, giving him sole possession of the most career assists in program history. In line with his record assists, Greer broke the season assists record in back-to-back seasons, tallying and outstanding 242 assists in the 1981 season, and and 217 assists the next season, 1982.Â
Greer stands at seventh in program history for career FT percentage, with a .812 percentage during his collegiate career. Greer was named as team MVP in 1983. He also earned first team All-MAC honors in 1982, and he earned honorable mention All-MAC the previous two seasons. In the 1981 season, he served as co-captain of the team, who went on to win the MAC Championship. He also led the Falcons to another MAC Chapmionship in 1982 season as the captain of the team, with an NIT appearance to follow.Â
