David Martin, a graduate of West Salem High School where he was a Tri-Captain in football, basketball, and baseball, came to BGSU in 1940 where he played football and also wrestled for the Falcons. He played guard, fullback, and tackle on the football field for the Falcons. He left for the military in 1943-1946 and then returned to graduate from BGSU in 1947. After graduating from Bowling Green, Martin went on to be an associate director of the Ohio Schoolboard Association in Columbus.
David Martin was elected to the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1970.
