Dewey Johnson was a letter winner in four different sports, earning ten letters during his time as a Falcon. The captain of the 1941 basketball team, Johnson also competed on the football, baseball, and track teams. As a football player, Johnson was a fullback and halfpack. On the court, he gained All-Ohio mention as a junior. Dewey Johnson earned three baseball letters as a pitcher, and competed in the javelin and relay on the track team. Johnson would go on to a career in the Air Force in 1941.

In his time as a member of the basketball team, Johnson was the leading scorer for the Falcons in the 1940-41 season, with 19 games played, where he averaged 11.3 points per game. In the same year, although as a member of the football team, Johnson recieved All-Ohio Conference honorable mention recgonition. He had one game during the season with over 100 reception yards, with 15 carries.

Dewey Johnson was inducted to the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1968.
