Twice voted team MVP, Don Lisbon led the team in rushing twice during his career. He was an All-MAC first team selection in 1962. Playing fullback as a sophomore in a backfield that featured senior Bernie Casey, Lisbon carried the ball 99 times for 605 yards, his 6.1 yards per carry average is second only to Fred Durig in BG history. The UPI named him to the All-Ohio second team for his efforts. As a senior, he again led the team in rushing, finishing his career with 1,215 yards, and a 5.1 career average, again right behind Durig.
Lisbon was drafted in the third round by San Francisco, scoring three touchdowns in 20 games over two years with the 49ers. In his first season of the NFL, Lisbon was named to the United Press International National Football League All-Rookie offensive team in 1963. After the NFL, Lisbon went onto the Canadian Football League where he was playing at an all star level.
